Job summary

Banner Health seeks a Medical Director Care Coordination to lead medical necessity reviews and ensure appropriate care pathways at Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix. This physician executive role conducts secondary reviews, mentor learners, and collaborates with hospital leadership to optimize throughput and resource utilization.

On-site position with a Monday-Friday schedule, competitive compensation and a total rewards package, including training and potential incentive programs.

Qualifications

• Must possess a strong knowledge of the delivery of healthcare services with a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Current medical license and ideally Board Certification.
• Must obtain Health Care Quality and Management Certification with Physician Advisor sub‑specialty certification within 3 years of hire.
• Must possess a knowledge and understanding of CMS regulations, reimbursement challenges, and managed care principles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as physician executive to ensure appropriate medical management and care quality.
• Provide guidance on individual cases and aggregate level to improve efficiency.
• Lead care management activities to improve patient safety and throughput.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to optimize length of stay and resource use.
• Advise on physician practices regarding resource utilization and care settings.
