Colorado PACE has an immediate opening for a Medical Director.
Location: Oversees two (2) locations: Aurora, CO & Greeley, CO. Must be at both locations twice a week, work remotely one day per week.
Status: Full-time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a-4:30p
Annual Pay Range: $234,000 - $275,000 plus Bonus (20% formulaic + 10% discretionary, starting in 2027)
Mileage and Expense Reimbursement: Sixty-two and a half cents per mile – one of the highest in the industry! Relocation Reimbursement.

The PACE Medical Director is responsible for participant care, clinical leadership, quality improvement, and medical oversight to achieve optimal outcomes for all participants.
People
- Consults with the Chief Medical Officer and other professionals regarding participant care, assessment, and education.
- Serves as a medical resource and member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) for Colorado PACE programs.
- Oversees assigned mid-level providers and evaluates and trains community contract physicians.
- Supports appropriate staffing and promotes a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrates effective patient and family communication and provides psychosocial support.
Service
- Provides comprehensive medical care, including examination, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and patient education.
- Orders appropriate referrals, diagnostic studies, tests, and ancillary services and determines the urgency of follow-up.
- Collaborates with the IDT to develop and review participant care plans and provides clinical guidance regarding disease, symptoms, prognosis, and treatment.
- Documents services in the electronic medical record within required timeframes.
- Participates in the on-call rotation and provides after-hours medical support when needed.
- Provides medical consultation and problem-solving support to the IDT during business hours.
- Validates referrals and admission/eligibility for Colorado PACE programs.
- Evaluates participants in inpatient and residential settings for admission, recertification, and as clinically indicated.
- Serves as primary physician when requested or necessary.
- Provides palliative and hospice-related care, including symptom management, medications, and inpatient hospice physician services, in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Maintains expertise in common terminal illnesses and appropriate palliation.
Quality
- Oversees the PACE Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and participates in utilization review.
- Supports resolution of participant complaints, requests, and inquiries.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with federal regulations, OSHA, and infection control requirements.
- Helps develop and implement medical care processes, protocols, and procedures based on research and best practices.
Growth
- Serves as a liaison and advocate between Colorado PACE, community physicians, and other healthcare providers to expand awareness and access to services.
- Acts as a consultant to referring physicians and educates healthcare professionals and the community about Colorado PACE programs.
- Maintains staff privileges at participating inpatient facilities and cultivates relationships with healthcare professionals in the communities served.
Finance
- Ensures compliance with the approved PACE model and applicable Medicare/Medicaid requirements.
- Promotes appropriate utilization of healthcare resources.
- Applies accurate coding, documentation, and diagnosis capture standards and educates providers on coding requirements.
- Uses company resources prudently and appropriately.
WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum Education: Graduate from approved school of medicine.
- Minimum Experience: Three years’ experience as practicing physician in hospice, internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, oncology, or related field.
- Required License: Current Colorado Physician License to practice medicine. Board certified (or board eligible) in Internal Medicine or Family Practice or Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Current CPR Certification. Valid Driver’s License and proof of Auto Insurance.
