Job summary

ITW Medical in Washington, NC is seeking a Sustaining Engineer to support product lifecycle management, engineering changes, and process improvements across the Medical Division portfolio. This onsite role requires collaboration with Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to drive operational excellence and product reliability.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in engineering within manufacturing or sustaining roles, plus strong problem-solving skills and experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience supporting product or process changes in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Sustain engineering projects, including product enhancements, cost reduction, and supplier-driven changes.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, reliability, manufacturability, and customer experience.
• Conduct engineering testing, analysis, and technical evaluations.
• Investigate and resolve product, process, manufacturing, and quality issues.
• Provide engineering support for materials, specifications, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Apply root cause analysis, statistical methods, and structured problem-solving tools.
• Support engineering change control activities, including documentation, verification, validation, and implementation.
• Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Supply Chain on CAPAs, investigations, and risk assessments.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and design records.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to implement practical engineering solutions.
• Support initiatives that improve quality, productivity, and cost performance.
• Capture and share technical knowledge through standards, documentation, and best practices.
