Job summary

Actalent in Minnetonka, MN is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to support R&D for capital equipment, instruments, and medical-device subsystems. You will work with engineers to design and refine prototypes, develop fixtures and test methods, and document results.

The role requires hands-on testing, the ability to create detailed test plans and reports, and collaboration with manufacturing and product teams in a regulated environment (GMP/ISO/FDA preferred).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with complex test development and execution for mechanical systems and products.
• Strong documentation practices for detailed engineering and test records.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical test equipment and test setups.
• Experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering disciplines.
• Ability to develop and execute test plans with defined methods and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D activities for capital equipment and medical-device subsystems with mechanical test expertise.
• Collaborate with engineers to design, build, and refine prototypes meeting requirements.
• Develop and implement mechanical test fixtures and test methods to validate designs.
• Plan, execute, and document complex engineering tests following procedures and quality standards.
• Create and maintain design and test documentation including plans, protocols, and reports.
• Provide feedback on manufacturability and mechanical processes relevant to testing.
• Evaluate fit, function, tolerancing, and design robustness to improve reliability.
• Participate in test planning, execution, and data analysis for mechanical systems.
• Work with test equipment and flow-related setups to assess performance and design compliance.
