Job summary

First Databank (FDB) seeks a Medical Device coder for the Quality department in Carmel, IN, focusing on HCPCS coding research and content accuracy. You will leverage AI tools with supervision to ensure robust medical device data and mappings.

The role requires 2–3 years of medical coding experience, CPC/COC/CCS credentials, and familiarity with CMS LCDs/NCDs, GMDN, and UNSPSC. Hybrid work onsite three days weekly with strong auditing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to research devices, categories, and HCPCS codes to build a library.
• Expertise in oral and written communications to discuss coding issues with peers.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Researches information from manufacturers and CMS to assign HCPCS codes for medical device content.
• Update and maintain HCPCS library through detailed research.
• Develop and maintain HCPCS mapping and wizard using research results.
• Provide training to staff members.
• Ensure accuracy of codes with data audits and reviews.
• Update HCPCS codes as GMDN/UNSPSC categories change.
• Evaluate categorization schema and train staff accordingly.
• Verify HCPCS mappings against official guidance and internal standards.
• Follow up with manufacturers when data is unclear for coding purposes.
• Apply CMS updates to data in a timely manner using maintenance tools.
• Maintain data privacy and compliance with ethical coding standards.
