Job summary

MED Institute Inc. in West Lafayette, Indiana, is seeking a Co-op engineer for a 16-week, 3-term paid program starting Jan 2027 with breaks aligned to school calendars. The role offers hands-on medical device development experience under engineering leadership.

You will collaborate with engineers on experiments, documentation, and prototype work while gaining exposure to regulatory and technical aspects of the medical device industry. 401(k) options and fitness center access are included.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BS (or advanced degree) program in engineering, engineering technology, engineering science or equivalent experience.
• Conscientious person with good work ethic.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate deliverables and tasks.
• Teachable, positive attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and help.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues.
• Personal discipline and ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is provided.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Engineers to plan, complete and report results of experiments, tests, prototype development, literature surveys, etc.
• Provide support to other team members upon request and where reasonable.
• Ask questions and learn about client expectations while driving towards scientific excellence.
• Work with engineers to define tasks.
• Follow procedures pertinent to tasks being performed.
• Ensure documentation is kept detailing project history (reports, notebooks, disclosures, literature, notes, deliverables).
