Job summary

Abbott in Saint Paul, MN is seeking an Operator I in the Structural Heart division to perform assembly, welding, x‑ray, repair and test operations on pacemakers and ICDs under supervision.

The role requires attention to procedures, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to prioritize tasks. Shift is Monday–Thursday 4am–2:30pm with potential overtime; base pay is $14.35–$28.75 per hour.

Qualifications

• 0–6 months of experience in a medical or other regulated production environments.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow procedures; understand and follow verbal instructions.
• Ability to prioritize work by determining sequencing and timing based on precedence and importance.
• Ability to handle and maneuver small components and parts; make critical decisions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs Electronic Assembly functions: assembles, welds, solders and x‑rays medical devices and related parts using microscopes and applicable tools.
• Locates and corrects problems by examining x‑rays and performing visual inspection of parts; repairs and tests units using computerized test equipment.
• Performs Casting/Coating functions: examines devices after molding operations; uses drills, reamers, taps and knives to access bubbles and repair epoxy patches.
• Performs Mechanical Assembly functions: kits, assembles, bonds coats and processes devices using microscopes and tools; repairs devices and components.
• May set-up/utilize special test equipment.
• Performs Packaging Functions: kits, assembles and packages devices and accessories; reviews device documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Notifies supervisor of the need to replenish supplies and any production difficulties.
• Works in a clean-room environment; gowning attire required; uses standard office equipment.
• Significant time standing/walking and using hands; reading blueprints and procedures; may lift up to 25 pounds.
