Job summary

Equiliem is seeking a Medical Device Assembler to perform hands-on assembly of medical device components in State College, PA. You will work from approved procedures and drawings, possibly doing cleanroom assembly, microscope work, and hand soldering to meet quality standards.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and able to learn established procedures while contributing to production efficiency. Strong teamwork and adherence to safety are essential.

Medical Device Assembler

Location: State College, PA
Schedule/Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Medical Device Assembler performs hands‑on assembly of medical device components in accordance with approved manufacturing procedures, drawings, and quality standards. The role may involve cleanroom assembly, microscope work, hand soldering, bonding, and working with small components and hand tools. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, quality-focused, dependable, and able to learn and follow established procedures while meeting production standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assemble components into medical devices according to approved manufacturing procedures, drawings, work orders, and verbal instructions.
  • Perform routine hands‑on assembly of medical device components, including sensor and probe assemblies.
  • Position and assemble small parts accurately while meeting established production standards.
  • Prepare product components, fixtures, and materials for assembly.
  • Perform bonding processes and mix materials such as epoxy according to approved procedures.
  • Fabricate cable assemblies and perform attaching and closing processes, including hand soldering.
  • Work under a microscope to assemble miniature components when required.
  • Perform limited product testing and support inspection activities as trained.
  • Complete manufacturing documentation accurately, including device history records, data sheets, lot control records, and work orders.
  • Accurately record labor time for work order operations in the manufacturing system.
  • Read and follow drawings, diagrams, procedures, work orders, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Inform the appropriate lead or supervisor of material shortages or production issues.
  • Complete assigned work orders on schedule to maintain production flow and efficiency.
  • Cross‑train on different production lines or departments as production needs require.
  • Participate in Lean, continuous improvement, and workplace organization activities.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain tools, fixtures, equipment, and work areas in accordance with established standards.
  • Follow safety, ergonomics, job rotation, stretching, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Maintain 5S standards and a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and work overtime or varying shifts as required.
  • Use work time effectively and remain focused on assigned responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members and support a positive team environment.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Less than 1 year of related experience typically required.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned duties following training and detailed instructions.
  • Ability to follow manufacturing procedures, quality requirements, safety policies, and job standards.
  • Ability to work under close supervision and perform routine assignments with limited judgment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to use small hand tools, including tweezers, picks, and precision cutting tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, diagrams, work orders, and written procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production and manufacturing records.
  • Ability to meet established production standards and standard times.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance and work overtime or varying shifts as needed.
  • Experience with hand soldering preferred.
  • Experience assembling miniature components under a microscope preferred.
  • Experience with fine‑motor activities such as cross‑stitch, needlepoint, diamond painting, or similar activities is a plus.
  • Experience with bonding, epoxy, cable assembly, or precision manufacturing is a plus.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
