Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Montgomery, AL is seeking a Medical Courier to support the delivery of blood and blood components. This role requires careful handling, punctuality, and a customer-service mindset.

This full-time position offers third shift hours from 10:00pm to 6:30am with 8-hour shifts, plus weekend and on-call hours as needed. The Courier will work within Hospital Services, reviewing notices, picking up supplies, and ensuring safety and SOP compliance while delivering to

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and LifeSouth driving eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Review shipping notices and orders to determine priorities and methods.
• Receive and carry out blood orders from hospitals and customers.
• Inspect and evaluate blood products for safety and potency.
• Package and deliver blood products to service area clients or other agencies.
• Run errands, deliver documents, pick up supplies and transport items as needed.
• Assist Hospital Services Team Leader with issue resolution per SOP.
• Provide highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an individual to join our team as Medical Courier in Montgomery, AL. This position is responsible for issues related to the shipment and delivery of blood and blood components.

**Available Shift: Third Shift - 10:00pm to 6:30am, 8-hour shifts for 5 days a week.**

**Weekend and on-call hours required, as necessary.**

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

• Review shipping notices, orders and other records to determine priorities and shipping methods required to meet scheduled deadlines
• Receive and carry out blood orders from hospitals and other customers
• Inspect and evaluate blood products to ensure they are safe, pure and potent
• Package and deliver blood products to service area clients or to other transportation agencies
• Run errands, deliver documents, pick up supplies and transport small items for repair when necessary
• Assist Hospital Services Team Leader with resolving problems in a timely manner according to LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
• Must be able to work a varied schedule. Some night, weekend and on-call hours are required
• Ability to organize and manage time effectively
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Must be able to do basic math, including addition, subtraction, proportion, percentages, etc.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 70 pounds, grasping and repetitive motion. Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting

This is a full-time position.

Starting salary range is $14.50 - $15.95 an hour.
