Job summary

St.-Joseph is seeking a documentation and coding auditor to review internal records for compliance with coding regulations and guidelines. The role supports rebuttals to CMS/payor denials and helps improve physician documentation education and correct coding practices.

The position involves assisting with EMR template creation to enhance capture of accurate documentation for E&M levels and responding to government and payer records requests.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of education beyond high school or an Associate degree in Medical Record Technology or closely related field.
• Certified coder with auditing experience required to ensure accuracy of coding and documentation.
• Knowledge of regulatory changes in coding/auditing guidelines.
• Ability to communicate clearly to professional practitioners and or the general public.

Responsibilities

• Perform internal audits of records to ensure coding accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare rebuttals to CMS or payer denials and respond to records requests.
• Assist in creating EMR templates to improve documentation for proper E&M coding levels.
• Collaborate with physicians and billing staff to drive coding improvements.
