Job summary

Mountain Management Services, within CommonSpirit Medical Group in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia, is seeking a skilled coder to translate medical records into precise codes for diagnoses and treatments. You will ensure accurate documentation so that claims are processed correctly and payments are timely.

You will interact with providers and staff to maintain compliant coding practices, stay current with NCCI/MUE updates, and manage coding denials with attention to detail and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) at hire or within probation.
• Certified Professional Coder Apprentice or Hospital Apprentice at hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately abstracts information from service documentation and assigns CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes following guidelines.
• Communicates professionally with providers, practice management, and staff.
• Works efficiently through the coding work queue and related task lists.
• Meets or exceeds organizational coding production and quality standards.
• Stays current with regulatory changes and coding updates (e.g., NCCI, MUE).
• Reviews and resolves coding denials.
