Job summary

Denver Health is seeking a Coder I to join the HB & PB Coding Services team. Under general supervision, you will review medical records to abstract diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers for statistical classification and reimbursement.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma and coding training; relevant licenses (CCS, CPC, CPCA, AHIMA) are preferred. Key duties include maintaining accuracy, productivity, and compliance with coding guidelines, using Epic and other systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of medical coding experience preferred; coding instruction or training required.
• CCS-Certified Coding Specialist required.
• AHIMA Member required.
• CPCA Apprentice required.
• CPC certified required.

Responsibilities

• Review medical record documentation to abstract and assign diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers for classification and reimbursement.
• Provide feedback on documentation and coding issues and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.
• Utilize electronic coding references and software applications to perform coding tasks.
