Job summary

Denver Health is seeking a mission-driven Coder III to join our HB & PB Coding Services. Under supervision, you will abstract diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers for reimbursement, mentor junior coders, and interact with clinical departments to improve documentation.

You will maintain production and accuracy standards, participate in education, and ensure confidentiality. The role emphasizes leadership, timely coding, and ongoing credentialing within a large academic health system.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years medical coding with multi-specialty experience or specialty certification.
  • Must pass a coding proficiency pre-hire test with 80% accuracy or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of billing and reimbursement.
  • Ability to read and interpret coding guidelines and make decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Meets or exceeds the minimum coding productivity standard.
  • Submits a fully completed production log weekly.
  • Maintains coding accuracy and timeliness standards.
  • Participates in education and training for coders.

Performs various coding assignments under the direction of Coding Management. Provides feedback regarding documentation and coding issues. Utilizes software applications and coding references to perform coding related tasks. Additionally, assists in training, mentoring, and quality assurance of Level I and Level II coders as directed by Coding Management. Required to interact with clinical departments as needed. Demonstrates leadership and teambuilding skills.Essential Functions :Meets or exceeds the minimum coding productivity standard for the type or coding performed. (10%)Submits a fully completed and accurate production log weekly in a timely manner. (10%)Meets or exceed the minimum coding accuracy rate of 95%.
