Job summary

Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, Missouri is seeking a Coder to apply CPT coding, ED/E&M coding, and financial class rules to assign accurate E/M codes within patient records for reimbursement. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Path physiology/Disease Processes; Intro to coding (including CPT) is beneficial.
• Detail oriented; able to communicate with Medical Staff and office personnel; and facility staff.
• One year of acute care hospital outpatient/ED coding.
• Six months of E&M Coding experience is preferred.
• If no undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT or CCS, must obtain Certified Coding specialist certification within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assign appropriate E/M codes within medical records for reimbursement requirements.
• Enter patient charges.
• Provide partial coverage for the hospital switchboard.
• Ensure all incoming telephone calls are promptly and courteously answered and routed to the correct extension within the hospital.
