Baptist is seeking a medical coder to code diagnoses and procedures in patient records, abstract information for reimbursement and statistics, and support providers, staff, and leadership.
The role requires strong English communication and an Associate’s degree (preferred). Prior experience in physician outpatient coding is desirable, with knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/HCPCS helpful. This position is onsite in Memphis, TN.
Codes diagnoses and procedures of patient records. Abstracts information for resimbursement, reseach, and to generate statstical data. Perform daily feedback and education to providers , staff and patients of BMG.
Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties. Associates Degree Preferred
Associates Degree
Up to one year prior experience in physician/professional outpatient surgery, and/or emergency department coding.
Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial. ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
Basic skills in verbal and written communication.
Certification in one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialst Physician (CCSP), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA, Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC/CPCH, Certified Professional Coder Payer).
