Job summary

South Lincoln Family Physicians P C in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist - Patient Accounts for a full-time, on-site role. You will post insurance and patient payments, handle inquiries, set up payment plans, and follow up on unpaid claims to keep accounts accurate.

The position offers a weekday schedule, with no nights or weekends. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of medical billing experience, strong math and detail orientation, and proficient Excel/Word skills.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, patient accounts, or a medical office business role.
• Comfort reading EOBs and working through the billing cycle
• Strong math skills and a sharp eye for detail
• A calm, kind approach to conversations about money
• Solid Excel and Word skills, and the ability to learn new software quickly
• High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Post insurance and patient payments (ERA, EOB, card, and portal) and balance the books at the end of each day
• Be a friendly, knowledgeable voice for patients with billing questions, in person and by phone
• Set up payment plans and provide Good Faith Estimates for self-pay patients
• Follow up on unpaid claims, including workers' compensation, and help resolve denials
• Manage monthly patient statements and the past-due account process
• Process refunds and credit balances
• Pitch in at the front desk when the team needs an extra hand
