Job summary

Washington State University is seeking a Patient Services/ Billing Services Representative in Pullman, WA. The role supports Cougar Health Services by reviewing medical records for accurate codes, handling calls, filing charge documents, and submitting claims to payers and public agencies.

Requires a high school diploma with 2 years office experience or 1 year healthcare experience, plus strong MS Office and communication skills. Includes full-time hours and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and two years of general office experience or one year of office or healthcare experience.
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to ensure accurate diagnostic and procedure codes.
• Answer telephones and process/prepare charge documents.
• Submit claims to third party payers and state/federal agencies.
• Obtain prior authorizations and schedule referral appointments.
• Establish eligibility and process medical/pharmacy remittance advices.
• Maintain assigned insurance accounts receivables and evaluate patient financial status.
