Job summary

Sorin Medical in Galax, Virginia is seeking an Authorization Specialist to join our in-person team. You will complete authorizations and referrals, review patient histories, and verify insurance coverage to move procedures forward.

Experience in medical billing or insurance authorization is preferred; a high school diploma is required, an associate degree is a plus, and you must be able to multitask while using medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Experience in medical billing or insurance authorization preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Complete authorizations and referrals for services, including appointments and procedures.
• Review patient's medical history and insurance coverage for approval.
• Contact referring physicians for additional information as needed.
• Input new patient information and update information in our system.
• Monitor schedule for potential issues and ensure required authorizations are obtained.
• Complete billing documentation and assist with clerical tasks.
