Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare seeks a part-time Medical Assistant in Edgewood, KY to support physicians and mid-level providers. You will prepare patients for exams, obtain vital signs, document histories and medications, and assist with procedures such as venipuncture and injections.

You’ll maintain exam rooms, assist with referrals and scheduling, and ensure HIPAA compliance throughout daily operations. The role emphasizes compassion, accuracy, and teamwork within a long-standing healthcare system

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required for Medical Assistant position.
• Ability to perform clinical duties with accuracy and compassion.
• Knowledge of patient privacy and basic OSHA/CLIA/HIPAA principles.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam and records vital signs, weight, history and medications.
• Provides clinical support during exam including venipuncture and injections as directed.
• Documents clinical findings and patient responses to interventions.
• Collects and routes lab results, imaging or referrals to the provider.
• Maintains exam room supplies, cleans and disinfects spaces, and reports equipment issues.
• Assists clerical staff with referrals, pre-certification and scheduling.
• Ensures timely collection/distribution of patient information.

The Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations, and ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations. The Medical Assistant is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.**Job Description:*** Prepares patient for exam and acquires vital signs, weight, general history, and current medication list when required.* Provides patient care and clinical support to provider during exam, including acupuncture needle removal, application of stimulator, needle count, venipuncture, injections, and EKGs.* Documents all clinical findings and patient response to interventions, i.e., history, medications, vital signs, weight, and testing results.* Collects and provides to the provider the completed Laboratory/test findings Intake Form, and physician referral information, Diagnostic Imaging, or Cardiopulmonary test results as they are available.* Provides instruction to patients under the direction of the provider.* Maintains adequate level of supplies in exam rooms and work station. Cleans and disinfects exam rooms. Reports malfunction of equipment to department supervisor.* Provides assistance to Clerical Coordinator/Registrar as needed. Assists with completion of referral process, outpatient testing, pre-certification and scheduling.* Timely and accurate collection/distribution of all patient information.* Performs other duties as assigned.**Education, Credentials, Licenses:*** H.S.
