Job summary

Brunswick Community College is seeking a Medical Assisting Instructor to lead competency-based evaluations, lectures, and skills development while managing a classroom and clinical externships.

The incumbent will prepare syllabi, assessments and teaching materials, coordinate with healthcare partners, and ensure adherence to college policies and certification requirements. Traditional and distance-learning delivery may be used to reach a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Assisting or Nursing with current certification.
• 3 years of work experience as a Medical Assistant or RN in a physician's office.
• 3 years of teaching experience at the community college level.
• Working knowledge of Moodle, Internet, Office 365 and WebAdvisor.
• Ability to teach Medical Assisting courses in traditional and distance formats.
• Adhere to college policies, procedures and certification requirements.

Responsibilities

Job description

Under limited supervision, The Medical Assisting Instructor will be responsible for student competency based course evaluations, lecture, skills, classroom management, conducting student assessment and progress in achieving course requirements, clinical externship management, and development of syllabus while adhering to Brunswick Community College guidelines, policies/ procedures, and certification requirements.

• Adherence to certification requirements, communication with students, and to provide feedback course updates and course supplies/materials as needed
• Teaches assigned Medical Assisting courses in the traditional setting as well as using distance technology
• Prepares course materials, including course syllabus, assignments, handouts, examinations and quizzes.
• Responsible for gathering resources for classes, grading assignments, and completing various reports and forms related to classes and programs in a timely manner
• Maintains open communication with healthcare partners and provided clinical oversight.
• Participates in professional organizations and activities and attends professional development events
• Has a working knowledge of policies, procedures, and operations of Brunswick Community College
• Assists with special projects as assigned

• Associate in Applied Science in Medical Assisting, or Nursing
• Hold and maintain a current, and in good standing, certification as Medical Assistant, or Registered Nurse
• 3 years of work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Nurse in a physician's office prior to employment with the college

• Possess and demonstrate the necessary knowledge in course content to teach the class for which assigned to

• Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students

• 3 years of teaching experience on the community college level
