Job summary

Health Center Inc. (also known as The New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of NYC, Inc Employee Benefit Funds) is hiring Medical Assistants for Queens and Midtown locations in NYC.

The role supports primary care, dental and diagnostic services for union members with schedules that avoid weekends and overnights. Responsibilities include preparing rooms, reviewing records, taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and coordinating referrals.

Qualifications

• High school graduate preferred.
• Prior experience in a physician’s office or health care setting.
• Medical Assistant Certificate
• BLS Certificate

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient schedule and ensures the medical record is available.
• Prepares examination room prior to patient arrival.
• Reviews the medical record for completeness and locates required forms.
• Takes patient’s vital signs prior to physician visit.
• Explains EKG/Holter tests to patients when necessary.
• Performs EKGs and files results signed by the physician.
• Performs routine tests as directed by physician.
• Answers phones, copies, files and faxes.
• Sterilizes instruments as needed.
• Makes referrals for tests in/out of the center as directed.
• Communicates with transportation to pick up patients.
• Escorts patients in the center.
• Updates medical record when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

(also known as The New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of NYC, Inc Employee Benefit Funds) is a NYC based healthcare organization with ambulatory care facilities staffed with a wide range of health professionals to provide extensive medical and diagnostic services. We offer Primary Care, Dental, Radiological, Vision, Mental Health, and other Specialist services within our facilities at no charge to our Union members, removing the financial roadblock that many people face when trying to obtain quality medical care. We are looking for Medical Assistants to help in our mission of providing top notch medical services to our Union members. Duties and responsibilities:

Reviews patient schedule and makes sure the medical record is available.

Prepares examination room prior to the patient arriving.

Reviews the medical record for completeness, i.e., check for copies of ordered lab/test results if not on file, locates; inserts blank visit forms; lab slips; and other required visit forms.

Takes patient’s vital signs prior to being seen by physician.

Explains EKG/Holter monitor tests to patients when necessary.

Performs EKG’s and makes sure the test is reviewed, signed off by the physician and filed in the medical record.

Performs routine tests as directed by physician.

Answers phones, copies, files and faxes.

Sterilize instruments as needed.

Makes referrals for tests in/out of the center as directed by the physician/nurse.

Communicates with transportation companies to pick up patients.

Escorts patients in the center.

Updates medical record when necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.
