Job summary

Goodwill Columbus – Work & Community Services is seeking a Medical Assistant to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting health, safety, dignity, and quality of life.

This full-time, hourly role requires CPR/AED and First Aid, Medication Administration certification, and a commitment to compassionate care; you will administer medications, monitor health, document accurately, and collaborate with nurses and families.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required.
• Current Medication Administration certification(s) or ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
• Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications.
• Ability to accurately document services and health-related information.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and approved health-related activities according to Ohio DODD certification requirements, nursing delegation, and agency policy.
• Monitor the health and well-being of individuals served and communicate concerns to the Registered Nurse and support team.
• Maintain accurate medication, health, and service documentation.
• Support individuals with personal care, mobility, daily living activities, and community participation.
• Partner with nurses, direct support professionals, family members, guardians, and community providers to coordinate services and follow-up care.
• Use person-centered approaches that encourage independence, confidence, skill development, and community engagement.
• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for individuals served.

Qualifications

Required

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

Preferred

• Associate degree in a developmental disabilities-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Experience with person-centered planning, behavior supports, healthcare support, or community-based services
