Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Assistant PRN for BHMG Urgent Care to coordinate direct patient care and provide clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices.

Responsibilities include check-in, vitals, history, medication reconciliation, and EMR navigation (EPIC). The MA will communicate with pharmacies, insurers, patients and physicians while upholding Baptist Health values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or MA program graduate with hands-on patient care experience.
• 1+ year(s) as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting with vital signs, history, and procedures.
• Clinical competency assessment upon hire and MA orientation completion.
• Basic computer skills and EMR system experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients, obtain vitals, and perform medication reconciliation.
• Document patient history and medications in the chart.
• Navigate EPIC EMR and coordinate with pharmacies, insurers, patients and physicians.
• Support providers with direct patient care and uphold Baptist Health values.

Medical Assistant PRN

The MA will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices.

Duties include:

• Check in patients, obtaining vital signs & medication reconciliation
• Patient medical history information
• Navigating electronic health record system (EPIC)
• Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians and will uphold Baptist's mission and core values that drive service excellence

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
