The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner or designee in accordance with UVA Health policies and procedures and competency to promote patient health and wellness.
This position requires providing service to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Required.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinic setting preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) credentials or must be obtained within 6 months of hire through a recognized national professional association such as:
Additional Skills/Requirements: AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required. Ability to successfully complete general and department role-based specific skills validation and competency testing.

The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
