Summary
The Medical Assistant is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. The role involves applying pediatric medical skills in an urgent care setting, assisting with primary patient care under physician supervision, and maintaining effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and vendors.

Description
Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival
  • Obtain medical history, vital signs, and intake information
  • Prepare patients for X-rays
  • Perform and document routine labs, such as throat and urine cultures (venipuncture experience preferred)
  • Irrigate and assist with wound care
  • Assist in performing quality control testing in the lab
  • Participate as part of the patient care team within scope of practice
  • Stock exam rooms and front desk with supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the waiting area
  • Follow safety protocols and precautions
  • Respond to patient emergencies and notify medical team as needed
  • Follow policies and report changes to management
  • Protect patient confidentiality and information security
  • Contribute to the practice's reputation by taking ownership and exploring improvements
  • Assist patients with complaints and participate in service recovery
  • Perform additional duties, including applying splints and assisting in medical procedures
  • Provide exceptional customer service

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience or education as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of pediatric EKG placement and processing
  • Ability to perform nasal swabs and venipuncture
  • Professional, friendly demeanor
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office; willingness to learn medical software
  • Experience with medical records is a plus
