Job summary

BHMG Baptist Health Medical Group Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic.

The role includes taking vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and supporting patient flow. Responsibilities also cover managing the EPIC EMR, scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting.
• Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (EKG, phlebotomy, injections).
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on patient experience.

Summary

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers.

Eligible for Retention Bonus. Bonus is reserved for new hires meeting eligibility criteria. BHMG Urgent Care Medical Assistant Full time. The MA will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices.

Duties include:

• Check in patients, obtaining vital signs & medication reconciliation

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required.
• Experience must include direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g., EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.

Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.

Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.

Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
