The Role You’ll Contribute

Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the supervision of the Providers, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs a wide variety of patient care activities, adhering to guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety. Maintains organization and facilitates patient flow, actively participates in customer service, and maintains respectful relationships with all.

• Creates and owns the patient experience to drive customer service initiatives.
• Documents and reports procedures and assessments properly and legibly.
• Assesses patients during clinical check-in, documents medical info and vital signs, and looks for signs of abuse or neglect.
• Performs treatments, administers medications, and follows up as ordered by providers. Responds to clinical emergencies and triage situations.
• Performs diagnostic tests (EKG, spirometry, audiometry, etc.) and forensic testing in accordance with DOT and Florida guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship or 1 year related experience, or 6 months within an AdventHealth facility
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA
• CPR certification
• Continued maintenance of BAT and Drug Screen Certifications
• Current certification from recognized certifying body (e.g., AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, AAH, NPS, NCMA)
• Paramedic license in Florida

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous urgent care or ED experience
