Henry Ford Health seeks a Medical Assistant for the Internal Medicine department in a union, full-time capacity. Shift hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, Mon–Fri, with Saturday morning coverage when the clinic is open. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program with 160-hour externship.
• One year clinical medical assisting experience in past five years (if externship not completed).
• Current or recent professional Medical Assistant certification with 5 years of clinical experience OR LPN OR EMT with 1 year clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Obtain and record patient histories accurately.
• Measure and document vital signs during assessments.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
• Perform administrative tasks to support clinic operations.

What You Will Do

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, assisting providers during these processes.
• Perform administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the clinical setting.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years, OR
  • Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience, OR
  • Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
