Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Novi seeks a Medical Assistant to join the Internal Medicine team. Under supervision of providers and nursing leadership, you’ll perform administrative and clinical tasks to ensure a seamless patient experience.

You will greet patients, record histories and vitals, prep for exams, assist providers, and handle front-office duties. A 160-hour externship or equivalent experience is required along with BLS-C on hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum).
• One year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years if no externship completed.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification with at least one year of clinical experience, OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or EMT with clinical experience, OR military medical personnel with clinical experience.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years, OR
  • Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years, OR
  • Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
