Job summary

Salem Health Medical Clinic in Dallas, Oregon seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to support physicians, assess patients, and manage routine and urgent care tasks. You will perform lab tests, document in Epic, and coordinate orders to ensure safe, efficient patient care in a fast-paced clinic.

Required CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification and BLS within 30 days. Previous clinic experience is preferred; full-time hours, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with competitive benefits at Salem Health.

Qualifications

  • Certification must be CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA or an equivalent credential.
  • BLS within 30 days of hire is required.
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patients for urgent conditions and intervene as needed.
  • Obtain histories and vital signs and document findings accurately.
  • Coordinate physician orders and support patient care workflows.
  • Perform waived lab testing and maintain QC competency.
  • Administer medications within clinic protocols, focusing on safety.
  • Provide discharge instructions and facilitate referrals.
  • Document all patient interactions in Epic Ambulatory (calls, visits, billing).

Location: Salem Health Medical Clinic- Uglow Ave, 1000 SE Uglow Avenue, Dallas Oregon 97338
Department: Salem Health Medical Clinic Uglow Ave
Position Type: Full time, 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Your role with us

As a medical assistant, you will play a critical role in patient care by assessing and monitoring patients, recognizing urgent conditions, and supporting physicians with timely diagnostic data. You’ll coordinate and execute medical orders, perform clinical procedures and lab tests, and ensure thorough documentation and discharge planning. Your ability to adapt to patient flow, prioritize urgent needs, and communicate effectively ensures a safe and efficient care environment.

What you'll do
  • Assess and monitor patientsfor life-threatening conditions, report changes promptly and intervene when care falls outside normal protocols.
  • Obtain patient histories and vital signs, reassessing after treatment and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
  • Coordinate and carry out physician orders, anticipating diagnostic needs and supporting patient care workflows.
  • Perform waived lab testingand maintain competency in quality control and patient testing procedures.
  • Ensure proper medication administrationwithin scope and clinic protocols, with a focus on safety and security.
  • Provide comprehensive discharge instructions, involve family when appropriate, and facilitate referrals and community resources.
  • Accurately document all patient interactionsin Epic Ambulatory, including calls, visits, and billing charges.
Required qualifications
  • Certification: Must possess a valid, current Medical Assistant certification or registration from a nationally recognized credentialing agency.
Acceptable Credentials Include:
  • CMA(Certified Medical Assistant) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • RMA(Registered Medical Assistant) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • CCMA(Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • NCMA(Nationally Certified Medical Assistant) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Or an equivalent medical assistant credential.
Additional Information
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire.
  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
