Job summary

Salem Health Medical Clinic Uglow Ave seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care, document data in Epic Ambulatory, and coordinate physician orders.

Qualifications

• Certification: Must possess a valid, current Medical Assistant certification or registration from a nationally recognized credentialing agency.
• Acceptable Credentials Include: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), NCMA (NCCT), or equivalent.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire.
• Ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients for life-threatening conditions; report changes promptly and intervene when care falls outside normal protocols.
• Obtain patient histories and vital signs, reassessing after treatment and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
• Coordinate and carry out physician orders, anticipating diagnostic needs and supporting patient care workflows.
• Perform waived lab testing and maintain competency in quality control and patient testing procedures.
• Ensure proper medication administration within scope and clinic protocols, focusing on safety and security.
• Provide comprehensive discharge instructions, involve family when appropriate, and facilitate referrals and community resources.
• Accurately document all patient interactions in Epic Ambulatory, including calls, visits, and billing charges.

Your role with us

As a medical assistant, you will play a critical role in patient care by assessing and monitoring patients, recognizing urgent conditions, and supporting physicians with timely diagnostic data. You’ll coordinate and execute medical orders, perform clinical procedures and lab tests, and ensure thorough documentation and discharge planning. Your ability to adapt to patient flow, prioritize urgent needs, and communicate effectively ensures a safe and efficient care environment.

• Or an equivalent medical assistant credential.
