Job summary

Primary Health Care Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant Trainee to support clinical and administrative tasks at the West Side Clinic in Clive, IA. The role is Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, 40 hours per week, with occasional shift changes to cover other PHC clinics.

The Trainee program covers on-the-job training for about 6 months; Basic Life Support and Mandatory Reporter Training are required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma, certificate, or Associate degree in Medical Assisting or high school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Must be obtained within 90 days of employment: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Must be obtained within 90 days of employment: Mandatory Reporter Training for Child Abuse and Dependent Adult Abuse (IA).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with assigned Patient Care Team to provide healthcare in a clinic setting.
• Prepares for exam/procedure and assists provider; handles patient rooming and intake; records vital signs.
• Documents patient care in the EHR; processes prior authorizations and referrals.
• Performs point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines and handles medication administration.
• Provides patient education suitable to patient age and learning needs.
• Maintains supplies and infection control; handles instrument processing and restocking.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
