Primary Health Care, Inc (PHC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical care and administrative duties at East Side Clinic in Des Moines. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to welcome patients and uphold safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related clinical experience or completion of medical assisting program.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills with diverse individuals.
• Organizational and priority setting skills.
• Professional skills with composure and empathy.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and EHR proficiency.
• BLS certification and Mandatory Reporter certification for Iowa to be obtained during Introductory Period.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Patient Care Team to provide needed healthcare in a clinic setting.
• Prepares for exams and assists the provider; manages patient rooming and vitals.
• Documents care in the electronic health record and processes prior authorizations and referrals.
• Performs point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines; administers medications and immunizations per orders.
• Provides patient education appropriate to age and learning needs.
• Maintains infection control, restocks supplies, and handles instrument transport.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
