Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
To assist with the delivery of physical therapy services to the consumers at Whitten Center. The person in this position functions under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist. The job duties require the Physical Therapy Aide to be able to perform the physical demands of the work to include lifting and maneuvering — walking, pivoting, pulling, pushing patients as well as moving heavy objects, bend, stoop, reach or stand.
This employee should possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Knowledge/experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is beneficial.
Knowledge of the basic equipment used: walkers, standing box, gait belt and vest, lift equipment, hospital beds, wheelchairs etc.; knowledge of the behaviors and needs of patients; knowledge of proper lifting techniques; ability to successfully complete in-service training, to observe and record conditions, reactions and changes in the physical conditions of patients; ability to maintain appropriate attitude and conduct necessary to the welfare of patients and the ability to maintain records and to communicate effectively and the ability to explain basic instructions and guidelines to others effectively.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
