Job description

Position Overview

The person in this position will assist the Foreman in conducting thirty-day, six-week, and annual inspections; ensure mechanics correct inspection failures and file reports according to state policies and guidelines. They will oversee the completion, accuracy, and timeliness of inspections, technician follow-ups, and reports.

Under the Foreman's direction, the incumbent will work with mechanics to evaluate and identify training needs, make recommendations for training provision, and provide hands-on training and mentoring as needed. They will assist in scheduling work to ensure timely maintenance completion, monitor mechanic workloads, and recommend adjustments.

The role includes supervising mechanics to maintain shop facilities, PPE, equipment, and grounds in a safe and clean condition. The supervisor will also ensure repair equipment is operational, report and coordinate repairs, and monitor parts and supplies inventory levels.

Additional responsibilities involve providing direct supervision and mechanical assistance, overseeing Fuel/Lube Technicians, and supporting the shop’s mission as directed by the Foreman or County Supervisor.

Qualifications

1. Work experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, or equivalent training and experience.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds and move objects weighing 125 pounds over 30 feet.
4. Proficiency in operating power, hydraulic, and electronic equipment.
5. Must obtain within 120 days a valid Class A or B CDL with Tank Vehicle, Passenger, and Air Brake endorsements, Tanker Operation certification, and pass background checks.
6. Successful candidates will undergo conditional employment, drug screening, and medical exams.
