Job summary

VNACJ Community Health Center in New Jersey is seeking a Medical Assistant Supervisor to lead CMA staff across Freehold, Asbury Park, Keyport, and Red Bank. This role supports clinical excellence and patient-centered care within a Federally Qualified Health Center.

The supervisor will provide clinical oversight, training, and performance management for CMAs, while coordinating with the Nurse Manager to ensure high-quality care and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school with current national certification
• 2+ years of medical assistant experience preferred
• 1+ Supervisory experience required
• Experience in EKG and phlebotomy
• BLS certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Valid New Jersey driver's license
• Bilingual (English/Spanish/Haitian Creole) preferred
• Working Conditions/Physical Demand: working indoors with medical equipment and supplies

Why This Role Matters

Medical Assistant Supervisor will beresponsible for assisting in providing care to patients as well as supervising the Certified Medical Assistants across the organization, in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with colleagues up, down, and across the organization

• Assists in professional development of all Certified Medical Assistant staff; designs and executes training programs as needed

• Supervises assigned CMA's in conjunction with the organization's managerial and leadership practices

• Provides clinical oversight of the services provided by the Certified Medical Assistants across the organization through direct observation and formal competency assessment, in conjunction with the Nurse Manager

• Monitors task boxes, inboxes, scanning needs, prior authorizations, and other administrative tasks, in conjunction with Senior Certified Medical Assistants; deploys support and resources where needed to stay current with these tasks

• Assists with oversight of the environment of care, ensuring adherence to CHC infection control and safety policies and procedures; monitors employee performance in the same

• Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance

• Omission of specific duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this position

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED

• Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school with current national certification from an approved certifying body

• 2+ years of medical assistant experience preferred

• 1+ Supervisory experience required

• Experience in EKG and phlebotomy

• BLS certification

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

• Valid New Jersey driver's license

• Bilingual (English/Spanish/Haitian Creole) preferred

• Working Conditions/Physical Demand: Working indoors with telephone, copier, fax machine, computer, printer, centrifuge, electric exam table, glucometer, nebulizer, needles/syringes, oxygen equipment, scales, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, thermometer, venipuncture equipment, wheelchair.
