Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant in California to support clerical, clinical and business functions under supervision. The role includes pre-visit work, vital signs, medication reconciliation and assisting providers in exams and procedures.

Responsibilities span instrument prep, charting, vaccines, scheduling, and patient communication. A CMA/RMA/CCMA certification and BLS are required or to be completed within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA certification or registration required or within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical, clinical and business support under supervision of a nurse or physician.
• Perform pre-visit work, obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, assist with examinations and procedures.
• Prepare instruments, clean exam rooms, and stock supplies.
• Respond to patient portal messages the same day following standard procedures.
• Administer vaccines, manage prescriptions and conduct follow-up calls as needed.
• Assist with scheduling, patient check-in/out, phone calls, chart organization and billing tasks.
• Adhere to policies, protect patient confidentiality, and support care team communications.
• May scribe and document encounters, order labs and referrals as directed.
• Monitor care team metrics to evaluate improvements.
