Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a clinical setting. You will coordinate examinations, prepare patients, document vitals and history, and assist with screenings and procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities include reviewing medication lists in the EHR, updating patient records, and ensuring supplies are stocked. CPR certification and clearances are required, with potential cross-site coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Certification within 120 days of hire; acceptable certs include NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.
• CPR certification required; background clearances as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating examination, treatment and care planning under supervision.
• Prepare and room patients according to workflows.
• Record vitals, medical history, tobacco and medication screening.
• Assist with depression screening tools if applicable.
• Complete annual wellness visit screenings.
• Review and screen medication lists in the EHR.
• Update social history and patient records.
• Pend/cues orders for screenings, prescriptions, refills per AHN protocols.
• Perform back office testing following AHN policies.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training.
• Follow up with patients via phone, electronic or written methods as instructed.
• Notify patients of test results promptly; prepare exam rooms for visits.
• Maintain inventory and ensure treatment areas are stocked.
• Sterilize instruments per policy; perform lab controls and equipment checks.
• Accurately document medications in the EHR and complete clerical duties.
• May float between physician office locations as needed.
