Summary of Job Duties:

The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. The MA will conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), and record information on patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The MA will also draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, the MA prepares treatment rooms for examinations and may perform administrative tasks such as registering and scheduling patients using various systems.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School or GED with successful completion of Medical Assistant training program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year MA experience
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • BLS (CPR) Certification.
  • Ability to perform point of care testing, draw and collect blood specimens, and prepare for laboratory processing.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist provider with medical procedures and examinations.
  • Research physicians' orders within Epic environment prior to submission.
  • Record patient data, acquire vital signs, and perform phlebotomy.
  • Perform skills such as EKGs, dressing changes, and administer approved medications.
  • Manage patient appointment schedules.
  • Greet patients professionally and courteously.
  • Perform registration, check-out, and administrative duties.
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, tests, and procedures.
  • Verify insurance coverage and handle third-party payer requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience.
