Job summary

Frederick Health Primary Care is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30am to 4pm with one evening per week. The MA performs clinical duties and some administrative tasks under providers' direction, including preparing patients, taking vital signs, patient histories, and assisting with procedures.

Minimum qualifications include an MA certification/licensure preferred, 1–2 years clinical experience, CPR, EMR/MS Office skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Certified/Mastered MA preferred; CNA, EMT or LPN credentials may satisfy education requirements.
• 1-2 years of experience in a medical practice or clinical setting.
• CPR Certification is required.
• Computer skills including EMR and MS Office; EMR knowledge preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination room promptly to maintain patient flow.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and medication/allergy History.
• Record vital signs in the EHR and notify physician of concerns.
• Document medications and lab results in the EHR, update with each visit.
• Educate patients and families on treatments, medications and instructions.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures as needed.
• Prepare for procedures, maintain sterile fields and assist with minor procedures.
• Assist with phlebotomy, dressing changes, injections, and staple/suture removal when directed.
• Maintain equipment and supply levels in exam and procedure rooms.
• Follow quality/service standards and participate in improvement initiatives.
