Primary Care Medical Assistant

Overview:
- Prepares patients for visits with providers by completing advanced standard room processes, including:
- Entering the chief complaint
- Taking patient vital signs, reviewing patient history and allergies
- Completing thorough medication reconciliation
- Using the Encounter Guide to help close care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, cancer screenings, and diabetic eye exams
- Rechecking elevated blood pressures
- Documenting in Epic for preventative visits as needed
- Assists with in-office testing such as drawing blood, mental status exams, EKGs, oxygen studies, and point of care testing
- Administers vaccines and injections within scope of practice
- Schedules follow-up appointments according to office policy
- Collaborates with providers and the care team to monitor and coordinate the care plan
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: 6 months clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care setting
- Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA)
LPN Qualifications:
- Diploma in Practical Nursing
- Active LPN licensure
- Preferred: 6 months clinical healthcare experience in a primary care setting
