Job summary

Pioneers Medical Center in Meeker, CO is seeking a Medical Assistant for Pre-Admission Testing to support surgical workflows in the orthopedic clinic. Coordinate preoperative testing, prepare charts, obtain and track required documentation, and communicate with care teams to secure clearance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Experience in a medical office, surgical clinic, or hospital setting preferred.
  • Orthopedic or perioperative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgical procedures according to surgeon and facility scheduling guidelines.
  • Coordinate operating room schedules and maintain surgery calendars.
  • Obtain and track all required patient documentation and clinical clearances.
  • Communicate with primary care offices and specialty providers to request records and clearance documentation.
  • Coordinate preoperative testing appointments and ensure completion.
  • Prepare and organize surgical charts for provider and anesthesia review.
  • Maintain surgery tracking logs and status reports.
  • Assist the PAT RN with six-week preoperative phone call preparation and follow-up tasks.
  • Contact patients regarding outstanding paperwork or testing requirements.
  • Verify receipt of laboratory results, imaging studies, and consultation notes.
  • Upload and accurately document patient information within the electronic medical record.
  • Coordinate with clinic staff, operating room personnel, anesthesia, and outside facilities to facilitate timely patient care.
  • Identify incomplete records and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with one-week preoperative communication by confirming patient information and supporting scheduling logistics.
  • Support postoperative follow-up processes as directed by the PAT RN.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to reduce surgical delays and cancellations.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records and statistics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

FLSA Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt, Hourly $19.03 to $23.84


Essential Functions

Education and Experience


  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience in a medical office, surgical clinic, or hospital setting preferred.

  • Orthopedic or perioperative experience preferred.
