Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England in Massachusetts, Springfield, is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Plastic Surgery Specialty Practice. You will prepare patients for visits, escort to treatment rooms, collect information for the medical record, and document in charts, while supporting a fast-paced, patient-centered team.

Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, scheduling, taking history and vital information, and assisting physicians in exam rooms.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of medical assisting; Associate’s Degree preferred; National Certification a plus.

If you love helping patients, staying organized, and being part of a fast paced, supportive team… we want to meet you! You would prepare patients for office visits; performs tasks including escorting patient to treatment room, obtaining pertinent patient information for medical record, and documenting information in patients' chart. Processes patient telephone calls and correspondence for the practice. Organizes and prioritizes duties to optimize efficiency and promote positive patient outcomes. Scribes information on a regular basis.

What You Would Do:
  • Coordinates patient flow in the office.
  • Collaborates with receptionist to make certain that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assists front office personnel by answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, and other tasks as needed.
  • Obtains pertinent history and enters into the medical record including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and appropriate review of systems.
  • In treatment rooms, serves as a scribe between patient and physician, documenting all relevant information.
  • Ensures patient is given appropriate clothing in preparation for the expected physical exam.
  • Triages patient telephone calls for lab results, prescription refills, and other clinical matters based on physician clinical pathways.
  • Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, clinical notes in patients' chart after they have been reviewed by the physician.
  • Assures accurate and complete documentation on patient records and notifies providers and other departments of diagnostic testing results.
  • Maintains and organizes patient files in accordance with HIPPA and JCAHO regulation.
  • Monitors inventory and restocks supplies as necessary.
  • Provides age-specific care related to patient's unique physical and psychosocial needs.
  • Works with the physicians to ensure completion of medical necessity forms, disability applications, and insurance-related documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is required
  • Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance is preferred, National Certification as a Medical Assistant a plus
Position Hours:

40 hours, Day Shifts, may have to float to practices in same building or locations within close proximity.

Pay Range:

$18.00 - $26.10 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
