Job summary

Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (CNA) to support the 5 South telemetry unit. Under RN supervision, you will assist with patient care activities and basic comfort needs in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a CNA and BLS, with High School Diploma or equivalent. Work hours are day shifts, part time (0.60 FTE) on a 7:00a–7:30p schedule, on-site in Lancaster, PA.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required prior to orientation completion.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under direction of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant contributes to the patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient. Actual job tasks may vary depending on the unit or department assigned.

5 South is a fast‑paced medical telemetry unit at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, offering a diverse and enriching clinical experience within a supportive, team‑oriented environment. The unit cares for patients with a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions—including respiratory, endocrine, renal, and cardiac‑related diagnoses—many of whom require continuous cardiac monitoring, providing staff with strong opportunities to develop advanced assessment and critical‑thinking skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • BLS required prior to orientation completion
