Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our clinic team. You will room patients, collect assessments, assist with examinations and procedures, and coordinate referrals. The role requires completion of an ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited medical assistant program. CPR/BLS certification within 90 days and training in injections/pharmacology are required

Qualifications

• Graduate of ABHES/CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program or equivalent.
• CPR/BLS certification approved within 90 days.
• Medication injection training and pharmacology competency required.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient.
• Assists in examination, treatment and clinic procedures.
• Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
• Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.
• Conducts reminder calls to all patients.
• Answers telephone and triages or directs caller to appropriate personnel.
• Registers patients by verifying records are up to date and accurate.
• Makes changes in the computer system and on patient charts.
