Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island in Bethpage is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nurses in patient care and to provide compassionate, competent care during hospitalization and procedures. You will obtain vital signs, assist with procedures and patient flow, maintain exam rooms, and help with charting and administrative tasks.

The role emphasizes strong communication, basic computer skills, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or 2 years Medical Assistant experience.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills; basic computer knowledge.
• Preferred: BLS, Medical Assistant Certification, EPIC Ambulatory knowledge, medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and nurses in patient care tasks.
• Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKG; assist with blood collection as needed; ensure chart is available for physician.
• Assist with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, medical exams).
• Maintain clean, stocked exam and treatment rooms; assist with light housekeeping.
• Assist with patient charges as per policy.
• Stock exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies and charts; assist with prescription renewals.
• May train new Medical Assistants; may perform administrative responsibilities.
