Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate or 1-3 years experience as a MA/EMT/CNA (with valid certificate) or completion of Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement plans for patient care and record visit details.
• Performs vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and documents findings.
• Collects and assists in specimen collection using standard protocols and routes specimens accordingly.
• Maintains daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment and reports inaccuracies.
• Performs electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders with adherence to infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures including lumbar puncture or pelvic exam following infection control and universal protocol.
• Maintains orderly and clean examination rooms, stocks supplies, and completes required logs.
• May participate in pre-visit chart prep to ensure lab results are available in the medical record.
• Performs various clerical duties to ensure efficient patient flow.
• All duties are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
