Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care & Occupational Health in the Springfield area seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and patients, handling clinical and administrative tasks to ensure safety and comfort.

The role includes taking histories, vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, point-of-care testing, and registration duties, with travel between Springfield N and Springfield S clinics. HIPAA confidentiality must be maintained.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including EMR.
• Ability to function independently with strong judgment.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing and screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, EKGs, etc.).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples.
• Complete paperwork for lab tests and insurance documentation.
• Assist with injections and related procedures.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, influenza, glucose, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and equipment sterilization.
• Coordinate records for ancillary care and referrals.
• Assist providers during exams and testing.
• Conduct occupational medicine testing (DOT physicals, etc.).
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Ensure equipment functions and report malfunctions.
• Manage patient callbacks and scheduling.
