Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care & Occupational Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in both clinical and administrative tasks. You will take patient histories, measure vital signs, run screenings, perform phlebotomy, and assist with exams to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires basic EMR proficiency, the ability to work independently with good judgment, and CPR certification. Training and growth opportunities are available within a dynamic healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic preferred.
• Proficient with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Ability to work independently with good clinical and professional judgment.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, PFT).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples and complete related paperwork.
• Administer injections (SC/ID/IM) and document accordingly.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, pregnancy, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and sterilization practices; operate autoclave.
• Coordinate records for ancillary care and schedule referrals.
• Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic, eye/ear irrigations, I&D, splinting).
• Perform occupational medicine testing (urine drug screens, breath alcohol, audiogram, DOT physicals).
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and report equipment malfunctions.
