Job summary

Northwest Physicians Group in Amarillo, TX, seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to support physicians in patient examinations, record vital signs, and prepare treatment rooms. The role includes venipuncture duties and front-desk coverage as needed, with EMR documentation per IPM guidelines.

Required are a Medical Assistant certificate and either an existing BLS or the ability to obtain it within 30 days. Strong communication skills and bilingual English/Spanish are preferred for patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant certificate required or must obtain certification within six months of employment.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process.
• General medical office procedures.
• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process.
• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of patient care duties under physician direction.
• Interview patients and measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, BP, weight, height).
• Venipuncture and procedures as directed within state scope of practice.
• Document in Electronic Medical Record per IPM guidelines.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination and assist at front desk as needed.
